Hello,
I have a strange IIS issue. I'm currently building a demo environment to access from the web. It is a Windows 2012 system with IIS8 on it, running default website. When I am RD'd into the box, I can hit the IP , //localhost/ or the DNS name of the system, the default IIS page comes up. Which I am expecting at this point. When I RD to another box on the same internal network as the IIS box, hit the internal IP, the external Ip and the DNS name the IIS default page comes up.
When I come home, and attempt to browse the IIS default page using the external IP and the external dns name I get PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED. I cannot ping the external address nor the name from outside the network, there are no FIREWALLS on the box currently, and I can ping the default gateway of the network I'm trying to reach.
When RD'd into the environment, I can ping the internal, the external address, and name from the IIS server itself, and from another box on the same network. Again, NO FIREWALLS turned on or enabled anywhere. This currently is just an open lab environment that I am playing with ( I understand the risks of what I'm doing, and plan on buttoning up things later)
It's weird because my external DNS (opendns.com) properly returns the IP address I'm looking for when I search the external name, so it's not name resolution, and IIS is up with Anonymous Authentication enabled...its literally an out of the box solution...nothing special configured.
Any troubleshooting suggestions here would be great.
Thanks
john
